Chapter 20
I straightened my shirt and tried to get off the few flecks of lint. I wanted to look put together.
Crimson had listened intently as Iâd described my grandparents, eventually relenting and letting me go get ready. Even though she was teasing me, it was clear that she was starved of touch. Never once did she let me stop touching her as she extracted all of the information about my grandparents out of me.
I felt like a cloth that had been wrung out, but I was perking up at the idea of seeing my ladies.
When I stepped up to Desâs dorm room, I realized I was actually a little nervous. It all felt so formal.
âKen.â I heard Fayeth as someone moved behind the door and opened it.
The first thing that hit me was the smell of some fragrant candles.
Des stood on the other side of the door, her hip cocked in a tight white top, a leather jacket, and nearly painted on jeans. âGoing to wait out there?â
I picked my jaw up off the floor. Des stepped aside, still hanging onto the door with a smile.
Charlotte spun to look at me, blushing and fanning out her pleated dress. âKen! How do I look?â She did a little twirl and then looked down, unable to meet my eyes as a blush spread across her cheeks.
I closed the distance in a single stride. âBeautiful.â I held her hands.
Charlotte looked up with a smile and glanced to my side where Fayeth was fidgeting.
My Fieore was wearing a ribbed sweater dress and tights. âThis is a lot of cloth. Do people usually wear this much cloth?â
âItâs wool,â Charlotte repeated the statement with a slight tone of annoyance. Something told me it wasnât the first time sheâd informed the elf. âIt keeps you warm when it gets cold out. You were complaining about it getting cold.â
Fayeth picked at the sweater dress and looked up at me. âDo you like it my Fieore?â
âYou all look incredible.â I adjusted my pants and made Des grin.
âYou heard him. Letâs move out. Otherwise, we may never make it out of here given his hungry look,â Des teased.
I coughed. âIâm not the one with chains built into my bedposts.â
She rolled her eyes. âItâs for rituals.â
âSex rituals,â I added.
âDo you really do sex rituals?â Fayeth asked, stepping out into the hallway and causing another girl passing by to turn to watch us with wide eyes until she ran into a door. She hurried off, embarrassed when she saw us watching.
Des pushed Fayeth down the hall. âCareful, you are going to give all the girls in the dorm a concussion.â
Charlotte stopped to cast heal on the girl and make sure she was okay before hurrying to catch up. âSheâs fine.â
I grabbed Charlotteâs hip, pulling her close to me. âThanks for looking out for people.â
Charlotte just rested her head on my shoulder and walked with me. Bun-bun wasnât too happy with the tilted stance, working to resettle himself.
âSo, where are we going?â Des asked.
